Iran Accuses US of Making Excuses as Historic Islamabad Peace Talks Collapse

The most significant US-Iran diplomatic encounter since the 1979 Islamic Revolution collapsed after 21 gruelling hours in Islamabad. No deal, no agreement — just mutual blame. The US demanded Iran surrender its nuclear ambitions. Iran accused America of making excuses and walking away. With the fragile ceasefire now hanging by a thread and the Strait of Hormuz still blocked, the world watches nervously to see what comes next.

Kolkata to see 4 days of stormy weather

Kolkata: After days of rising heat across South Bengal, relief has finally arrived — but with a dramatic twist. The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast four consecutive days of thunderstorms and rain, bringing back classic Kalbaisakhi (Nor’wester) conditions across the region.

Rain activity has already begun in the city, and weather experts warn that unstable conditions will persist from Monday through Thursday, accompanied by strong winds, lightning, and possible severe weather in several districts.

🌧️ Kolkata Weather: Storms, Lightning & Strong Winds

Residents of Kolkata should brace for scattered rain with thunderstorms over the next four days.

  • Monday & Thursday: Winds at 30–40 km/h
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: Stronger gusts at 40–50 km/h
  • Frequent lightning and thunder activity expected

The same pattern will affect several South Bengal districts, making mid-week the most intense phase.

⚠️ Nor’wester Alert Across South Bengal

Weather officials have issued Kalbaisakhi warnings for multiple districts, including:

  • Howrah
  • Hooghly
  • Nadia
  • North 24 Parganas

Meanwhile, more severe storm activity is expected in:

  • West Midnapore
  • Purulia
  • Bankura
  • East Burdwan
  • West Burdwan
  • Birbhum
  • Murshidabad

➡️ Wind speeds in these areas may reach up to 60 km/h, raising the risk of localized damage.

🌊 Coastal Warning: Rough Sea Conditions

From Tuesday onward, strong winds of 40–50 km/h are expected along the coast.

  • Affected areas:
    • West Bengal coastline
    • North Odisha

⚠️ Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea until Wednesday due to rough conditions.

🌡️ Temperature Dip Brings Temporary Relief

The ongoing weather system will bring down temperatures across South Bengal:

  • Drop: 3–5°C over the next few days
  • Rise again: 2–4°C afterward

This means a short-lived relief from the recent heatwave-like conditions.

🌩️ North Bengal: Heavy Rain & Hailstorm Warning

Storm activity remains intense in North Bengal, with alerts issued for:

  • Jalpaiguri
  • Alipurduar
  • Darjeeling
  • Kalimpong
  • Cooch Behar

⛈️ Key risks include:

  • Heavy rainfall (especially Wednesday)
  • Strong winds (40–60 km/h)
  • Possible hailstorms in isolated areas

🧭 What’s Causing This Weather Shift?

Meteorologists point to a trough (axis) extending from Gangetic West Bengal to Telangana via Chhattisgarh, at around 0.9 km above sea level.

👉 This system is drawing moisture into the region, creating atmospheric instability — the perfect setup for thunderstorms, lightning, and Kalbaisakhi activity.

📝 Bottom Line

  • Kolkata to see 4 days of stormy weather
  • Strong winds + lightning likely across South Bengal
  • Severe weather mid-week in several districts
  • Hailstorm risk in North Bengal
  • Sea conditions unsafe for fishermen
